Morgon is the largest cru of Beaujolais, after Brouilly. The vines range from 700 to 800 feet above sea level and have an east and south exposure. The vineyards of Morgon are exclusively located in the village Villié-Morgon. They cover 60% of the village, which is 90% of vines areas.
Morgon is flexible and fruity and at times stronger and more structured. It may be aged a few years to flourish and deliver i ts ref ined and charming bouquet.
The gobelet method (short pruning) is utilized leaving 3 to 5 branches on each vine with a maximum of 10 bunches.
