The region of Beaujolais in Southern Burgundy
The Beaujolais region is located north of Lyon, south of Mâcon, west of the river Saône and east of the beautiful lyonnais' hills. The region extends over 8 miles in length and 4 miles in width and is filled with rolling hillsides and quaint villages, some of which give their names to the crus of the Beaujolais.
The Beaujolais which is located south of the Côte d'Or in Burgundy consists of many farms, domains and steep hilltops which makes the perfect link between the rich and austere Burgundy region to the north and the artistic and exuberant lyonnais style of the Beaujolais region to the south.
The remarkable and diverse landscapes of the Beaujolais uniquely surround one "easy to drink" grape varietal : the "Gamay noir à jus blanc" (black grape with white juice). We separate Beaujolais into three different areas located throughout the Beaujolais :
1. The Beaujolais vineyards that surround the area near Lyon
2. The Villages located throughout the center of the region
3. And the 10 wonderful "crus" representing the finest quality of the region : Brouilly, Côte de Brouilly, Chénas, Chiroubles, Fleurie, Juliénas, Morgon, Moulin à Vent, Régnié and Saint Amour.
The vineyards
Of approximately 36 000 acres of gamay vines planted around the world, over 22 500 acres are located in the Beaujolais region of France. The unique terroir of the Beaujolais makes for a wonderful wine which can be consumed as an aperitif and also pairs well with many types of food. Our terroir gives us unique soil and climate :
- sedimentary, consisting of limestone and argyle limestone in the south
- granite and large rock plateau's in the north
The winemaking process
The Beaujolais wines are unique in that they are all recognized as A.O.C. (Appellation d'Origne Contrôlée) wines : there's no table wine here. Our wines are therefore under strict regulations, which impose compulsory approval and certification. Samplers continually travel through the vineyards collecting specimens throughout each new vintage which are then laboratory tested and analyzed (biologically and chemically) and then anonymously taste tested for quality.
Before bottling, which takes place between November and the following summer, the wine is filtered, and some, among the "crus", spend various amounts of time in oak barrels, which gives some of the wines a woody aroma and wonderful finish.

The transformation of the cellars of Quincié from a cooperative dating back to 1928 to the ultra modern cellars of today have become the newest reference of success in France formed by the alliance of our independent winegrowers and the origination of the Signé Vigneron project.
The current cellar of Quincié represents only the finest terroir, growers and winemakers offering their assurance of the highest quality.
For example, some of our wines come from the fields of the Vougeon farm (Brouilly), the coast of the blue stones (Côte de Brouilly), the vineyard of Leroux-Morin (Chiroubles), the castle of La Prat (Juliénas), the vineyard of Eric Collonge (Morgon) and the domain of the small stones (Régnié).
